Smelt fishing involves drilling a round hole in a frozen lake in winter, hanging a fishing line, and fishing for smelt under the ice. Even people who have wanted to try it at least once tend to think twice about it because it seems like it would be difficult to prepare and move around. For those of you, we recommend a ``warm and comfortable smelt fishing experience'' at Lake Kanayama in Minamifurano, which is about an hour's slow drive from Tomamu in Furano. There is no need for advance preparation such as drilling holes, so enjoy fishing immediately. The tent is fully heated, warm boots and foot warmers are provided, so you can stay warm without bringing anything. Anyone can feel free to participate if they feel like it.
